Packed food may be something new, but how do we check whether newly packed food is good or not? How do health authorities check it's acceptance. We look at its ingredients.
These ingredients of Mawlood are essential spiritual nutrients. If you do not receive them through this particular “packet,” then you should receive them through some other means.
1. Hubb (Love) of Rasoolullah ﷺ
Where is the effort to develop and nurture love for Rasulullah ﷺ? We discuss a lot about what he brought to us, but where is the effort to make people know his personality, character, and greatness on a mass level?
2. His Praise and Mad'h
There was no time in history when the Mad'h and praise of Rasulullah ﷺ were not kept alive. Millions of poems have been written in praise of Rasulullah ﷺ. Why do those who oppose Mawlood not give people the opportunity to hear even one of these poems?
3. Knowing His Seerah and Greatness
Mawlood creates an opportunity to learn about the Seerah, character, qualities, sacrifices, and greatness of Rasulullah ﷺ.
4. Gathering in the Name of Rasulullah ﷺ
What was the first act of the Ansar when Rasulullah ﷺ arrived in Madinah on Rabi Awwal 12th? They gathered together to welcome him and praise him.
5. Giving Food and Charity
Feeding people and giving charity are acts of goodness that can—and should—be done at any time. How great it is when that's in the name of the most beloved ﷺ.
6. Rejoicing at His Arrival
We rejoice at the arrival of Rasulullah ﷺ because his coming is among the greatest blessings Allah has bestowed upon humanity. The Qur'an itself describes the sending of the Messenger ﷺ as a great favour and mercy from Allah.
7. Remembering and Increasing Our Connection with Him ﷺ
Anything that reminds people of Rasulullah ﷺ, increases their love for him, encourages them to learn his Seerah, and inspires them to follow his Sunnah has immense value.
Hence, if we look at the “ingredients” of Mawlood, we find that these are not things that a Muslim can simply do without. If one does not receive them through a Mawlood gathering, then they must find other ways to nurture the same love, remembrance, knowledge, praise, charity, and connection with Rasulullah ﷺ.
The name of the packet may be new, but the ingredients are not.
They have been part of the spiritual nourishment of Muslims throughout history.
